From Barcelona to Borough: STANLEY® takes Built to Support to non-league football

October 28th, 2026

The Official Tools Partner of FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur has funded a new stand built by Rugby Borough FC's own tradespeople, opened at a STANLEY® matchday takeover and set to help the club grow its crowds.

STANLEY®, Official Tools Partner of FC Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, Olympique Lyonnais and PSV Eindhoven, has taken its Built to Support platform into non-league football for the first time, funding a new stand at Rugby Borough FC that was built by the club's own players, coaches and volunteers from the trades.

The STANLEY® Stand was officially opened on Saturday 17 October, as STANLEY® took over Rugby Borough's Northern Premier League Division One Midlands match against Boldmere St Michaels. Rugby Borough FC marked the occasion with a 1-0 win. The day featured a STANLEY® fan zone with tool challenges, Beat the Robokeeper and a branded photobooth, plus free matchday scarves for every supporter. STANLEY® products, Tottenham Hotspur tickets and a signed England shirt were also up for grabs, with every penny raised going back into the club. With a roof over the terrace, the new stand gives supporters somewhere to stay dry through the winter, helping the club grow its matchday crowds for the rest of the season and beyond.

Launched in May 2026, Built to Support is STANLEY®'s pan-European football platform, celebrating tradespeople as skilled professionals on the job and dedicated supporters in the stands. Alongside the four elite club partnerships STANLEY® signed in August 2025, the platform backs grassroots football through donated LED perimeter advertising for tradespeople making a difference locally, and facility projects delivered by volunteer tradespeople. Rugby Borough is the first grassroots project delivered under the platform.

For Rugby Borough, the new stand gives a growing community club practical protection from the weather, a better experience for families and supporters, and a visible reminder of what local tradespeople can build for the place they call home.

"Our partnerships with clubs like Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur put STANLEY® on the biggest stages in football. But the tradespeople we make our tools for are just as likely to be found at clubs like Rugby Borough – playing, coaching, volunteering and, in this case, building the stand. Built to Support is about backing them at every level of the game, and seeing the community come together in a stand they built is exactly why we do it," said Darren Barber, Senior Brand Marketing Director, EMEA-ANZ at STANLEY®.

At Rugby Borough, club captain Ellis Myles, a kitchen fitter and designer, and teammate Cameron Collins, a roofer, led the build alongside club coaches and volunteers. Founded in 1994 as Rugby Town Juniors, the club now runs around 70 teams, with more than 1,000 junior players and nearly 200 volunteers, and has been named Community Club of the Year three times.

"Every time we come out to the pitch, I can look at something and go, 'Yeah, that's something I built,'" said Ellis Myles, Rugby Borough FC captain.

"It's incredible that these tradespeople, who are part of our club and part of our community, are able to use their skills to improve things for our community. We're increasingly getting bigger crowds, and this country is very rainy, so having a stand like this is vital. I want everyone to be comfortable and dry and to want to stay for an entire match," said Kate Madia, Chair of Rugby Borough FC.

"As a Rugby Borough family, it’s been fantastic to see Stanley bring the whole club and community together. From the fan zone activities to the giveaways, it’s created a brilliant atmosphere and made the day even more memorable,” said Megan Gibson, a Rugby Borough supporter from Rugby Town
